Ingredients

  • 100 ml Lungo coffee prepared strong and cooled
  • 200 ml orange juice freshly squeezed
  • 2 cs maple syrup (or liquid honey)
  • 1 pinch ground cardamom
  • 8-10 medium-sized ice cubes

For decoration

  • Organic orange zest
  • 2 slices orange
  • Some fresh mint leaves

Instructions

  • Prepare 100 ml of Lungo coffee using your preferred method (long espresso, filter coffee maker, or French press). For optimal extraction, use approximately 14 g of coffee per 100 ml of water.
  • Pour the hot coffee into a container and let it cool to room temperature, then place it in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, squeeze the oranges to obtain 200 ml of fresh juice. Strain it to remove the pulp if you prefer a smoother texture.
  • In a shaker or large glass, combine the chilled coffee, orange juice, maple syrup, and cardamom. Stir vigorously for 30 seconds.
  • Fill two glasses three-quarters full with ice.
  • Pour the coffee-orange mixture over the ice cubes, spreading evenly.
  • Garnish each glass with an orange slice on the rim, add some orange zest and, if desired, a sprig of fresh mint.

Presentation Tips

Serve in clear tall glasses to showcase the color gradient from amber brown to golden orange. For a more elegant presentation, frost the rims of the glasses with orange-flavored sugar: rub the rim with an orange slice, then dip it in a mixture of sugar and grated orange zest.

Variants and Accompaniments

  • Sparkling version: Replace half of the orange juice with sparkling water for an effervescent drink
  • Creamy version: Add 50 ml of coconut milk for a creamier texture
  • Spicy version: Stir in a pinch of grated fresh ginger or cinnamon
Suggested accompaniments: Lemon shortbread, almond financiers or fresh seasonal fruit

Notes from our Barista

The secret to this recipe lies in the quality of the coffee used. For this drink, we recommend our Lungo Organic whose natural citrus and caramel notes create a perfect synergy with fresh orange. Its artisanal roasting preserves the delicacy of the aromas that are magnificently revealed in this iced preparation.
To intensify the aromatic experience, prepare your coffee slightly more concentrated than usual – this will compensate for the dilution caused by the ice cubes. Feel free to experiment with different citrus fruits: pink grapefruit, mandarin orange, or clementine each bring their own unique personality to this recipe.
